Database Administrator-SQL

About the Role Works closely with Sr and/or Lead Database Administrator and provides technical expertise in the planning, design, implementation, and operation of database platforms that support H&R Block business applications across cloud and on-premises environments. Delivers secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-effective solutions while enabling developer autonomy through standardized patterns, self-service capabilities, automation, documentation, and technical guidance. Applies appropriate security, compliance, reliability, and operational guardrails to reduce risk and support successful business outcomes. Monitors, optimizes, and maintains database services and continually evaluates emerging technologies and opportunities for improvement. Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL solutions across cloudand on-premises environments. Experience with Azure Cloud, Azure Devops, CI/CD and infrastructure as code. Apply AI in day-to-day activities including agentic development and responsible use of AI across development, testing, documentation and operations. Promote developer autonomy and application-team ownership by establishingguardrails for security, compliance, availability, performance, resiliency, data protection, and cost management. Automates provisioning, configuration, maintenance, validation, monitoring, and remediation to improve consistency, delivery speed, and operational efficiency. Monitors database health, capacity, performance, availabil
