About the Role
You have years of bookkeeping experience and now want to use your knowledge for the common good? Perhaps you are in semi-retirement, parental leave, or working part-time and want to keep your professional skills sharp. With us, you don't start with a backlog, but with a blank slate: our accounting department doesn't exist yet. You will build it together with us. Right off the bat: This is a volunteer position. The role is unpaid and does not constitute an employment relationship. We are looking for individuals who want to contribute their experience because the cause matters to them. Who we are: Deutscher Hilfsbund e.V. (DEHIB) bundles relief organizations and connects them with people from business, politics, and science so that social engagement achieves more. We connect associations, create professional structures, and build a nationwide platform for societal impact. To do this, we need a solid financial system — and you. Your Responsibilities: Build accounting from the ground up: define chart of accounts, document workflows, and procedures together with management. Ongoing financial accounting: check, code, and book documents (accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger) · handle payment transactions. Reconcile accounts and assist with year-end closings. Prepare reports for the board and management. Be the point of contact for our operational areas and member associations within DEHIB. Too much for one person? Then we are happy to split the tasks, for example in a tandem setup. What You Bring: Several years of practical experience in financial accounting.
