Research Scientist - Construction Scheduling & Workforce Risk

AlphaGov is seeking a Construction Research Scientist to support research and consulting opportunities involving construction schedules, workforce capacity, labor costs, and project delivery risk. We are looking for someone who can evaluate how delays, competing projects, and limited skilled labor affect a project’s cost and completion date—and translate those findings into practical recommendations. Scope of Work Analyze how project delays change workforce requirements, crew availability, and labor costs. Model resource constraints across multiple projects, including situations where crews remain on one project longer than planned. Develop and test scheduling, simulation, and forecasting methods using historical project data. Evaluate alternatives such as resequencing work, reallocating crews, overtime, and subcontracting. Define data requirements, validation methods, and measurable research objectives. Contribute technical methods, work plans, and findings to proposals and client deliverables. Requirements PhD preferred in construction engineering, civil engineering, construction management, operations research, industrial engineering, or a related field. Comparable applied research experience will be considered. Experience with construction scheduling, resource allocation, project controls, or construction productivity research.
