Senior Platform Engineer – Linux & Kubernetes on Bare Metal (m/f/d)

Your Purpose: We operate our hosting platform on our own hardware and are currently rebuilding it from the ground up: Kubernetes on bare metal, with all layers from the kernel to the platform under our own responsibility. You will provide technical direction to your team. Your judgment is rooted in operations—meaning real incidents and customer problems. Based on this, you make decisions as a team, visibly drive projects forward, and help your colleagues grow professionally. You do not have disciplinary personnel responsibilities, but all the more technical influence. Your Skills: You lead technically without disciplinary management. You make complexity tangible for colleagues at every level and bring them along through feedback, knowledge transfer, and continuous sparring. You have deep mastery of at least one layer, whether kernel, storage, networking, or container runtime. You understand the others well enough to recognize interactions. You know how Kubernetes runs on dedicated hardware and what happens when it doesn't. You analyze incidents down to the root cause, recognize patterns behind recurring problems, and define sensible monitoring and alerting rules. Software Engineering: You build platform components and automation yourself, ideally in Go, and can technically evaluate the solutions of others.
