Research Associate - Software Security & Program Analysis

Increasing digitalization makes software security a central prerequisite for trust, resilience, and innovation capability. This is precisely where we come in. The ATHENE National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity is a joint institution of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft with the participation of Fraunhofer SIT, Fraunhofer IGD, as well as TU Darmstadt and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. In a unique cooperation model, we combine university and non-university top-level research in the field of cybersecurity. Fraunhofer SIT is one of the leading research institutions for IT and software security in Germany and Europe. Our focus is not on classical software development, but on the analysis, evaluation, and securing of software. Here you will make a difference: You will work on applied research projects in the field of software security in cooperation with our partners in academic institutions, industry, and public administration; Development and scientific evaluation of new methods for detecting, analyzing, verifying, and fixing software vulnerabilities; Research into novel methods of static and dynamic program analysis, including fuzzing and the use of AI methods for vulnerability detection; Security analyses of real software systems, including: Code reviews, Penetration tests and security assessments, Risk and threat analyses; Participation in publicly funded research projects.
