SOC Security Engineer Level 2/3

Tasks and responsibilities You specialize in IT security and focus on the protection of networks and data systems, both in the cloud and on-premises. In this role, you combine proactive and reactive security tasks and act as a technical discussion partner for cybersecurity. You are responsible for securing network environments and support in protecting critical systems and data. You investigate current and potential threats, assess risks, and develop targeted security measures to mitigate those risks. In addition, you ensure clear documentation and workable procedures that strengthen the quality and efficiency of security services. You perform threat hunting in the SIEM environment to detect relevant patterns, risks, and misconfigurations. Within a Level 2/3 SOC, you analyze and handle security alerts and incidents in real time, in collaboration with an external partner who handles the initial triage. You work with existing security tooling such as SIEM solutions (Splunk, Sentinel), vulnerability management (Tenable One), threat intelligence, pentesting, sandboxes, and IPS/IDS. Where necessary, you also take the initiative to propose additional tooling or optimizations that improve the operation of the SOC.
