Data Engineer & BI Developer

Tasks and responsibilities: For a data and reporting project within police operations, we are looking for an experienced Data Engineer / BI Developer who combines backend data engineering with data extraction, transformation, and visualization in Power BI. In this role, you will contribute to the further expansion and modernization of a data lakehouse environment. You build end-to-end data solutions, from raw source data to actionable insights for operational and strategic reporting. In doing so, you ensure that data is correctly processed, modeled, and made available through high-performance dashboards and reports. Responsibilities: Backend / Data Engineering: Migrating existing data pipelines and data warehouse structures. Developing and maintaining data pipelines, ETL processes, and data transformations. Modeling data according to common methodologies such as Kimball, Inmon, and Data Vault. Developing data processing logic in SQL and Python. Working with Microsoft Fabric or the Azure data stack, such as Data Factory, Synapse, and Fabric. Utilizing complementary technologies such as dbt, Databricks, or Apache-based solutions where relevant. Contributing to best practices around data engineering, Git, versioning workflows, and deployment. Improving the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of the data lakehouse.
