About the Role
What is it? An engineer specialized in the design, development, and release of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) harnesses for electric vehicles or automotive systems. Their role is key to ensuring that harnesses comply with safety, quality, and manufacturability standards, as well as serving as a technical liaison between the engineering team and manufacturers. How do they do it? They design and document harnesses using tools like Siemens Capital Essentials (for 2D drawings) and CATIA (for 3D models), ensuring designs are accurate and compatible with defined electrical and physical schematics. They maintain component libraries in Capital Essentials, including connectors, terminals, seals, and accessories, to guarantee the automatic selection of compatible parts. They collaborate with manufacturers (especially in China) to resolve technical issues, manage engineering change requests (ECRs), and support processes such as APQP/PPAP. They support on-site production by identifying and documenting quality, installation, or service issues and proposing improvements for mass manufacturing. They ensure compliance with regulations and standards such as USCAR-37, IEC 60664-1, ISO 6469-3, and IPC/WHMA-A-620, which are critical for high-voltage systems. Why is it important? Their work is essential to ensuring HV/LV harnesses are safe, functional, and production-ready, avoiding failures in advanced development stages.
